From winemaker Zsolt Sütó, in the village of Strekov/Kürt, border of Slovakia and Hungary comes this unique wine. The name of the winery is a reference to the first written traces of the village and also the Zsolt’s house number. The village of Strekov is a Slovak leader of organic viticulture, with more than 10% of the vineyard area certified. Before turning to wine, Zsolt was in the pumpkin seed business and still makes and sells a tasty oil made from them.

A blend of Alibernet (a cross between Alicante Henri Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon), Dunaj (cross of Blauer Potugieser and Sankt Laurent), proportions vary according to each release. This vintage consists of Alibernet 2021 (aged 15 months in old barrels), Alibernet 2022, Dunaj 2022 and Portugieser 2022, bottled at the beginning of February 2023.

Its personality is funky, earthy yet with fresh fruit, incredibly congenial. As Zsolt says, the F in the name stands for “friendly, fresh, but also f* good red” and he’s 100% correct on all accounts. Stemmy cherry fruit, allspice, a touch of barnyardy Brettanomyces. Rustic and ever so delightful with a bit of a chill with cold cuts and fresh vegetables, and why not try it with BBQ.

Region: Strekov/Kürt, Slovakia
